    2016/17 Full Time Prospectus

    Summary

    The Business Development team from imageData Group worked closely with Hull Combined College Group marketing team over a 12 month period to develop a clear understanding of their print requirements in order to create visually impactful communications to inform and engage students. Communicating with both prospective and existing students is an important part of the work carried out by the Hull College Group’s marketing team. One of the key ways they do this is in the form of printed information.

    Following a competitive quoting process imageData Group has delivered a portfolio of high quality printed products. This included: Full Time Prospectuses (2015/2016 and 2016/2017), Higher Education Prospectuses, Part Time Prospectuses, Student Skills Passports, Graduation Booklets, mailers, large format banners, headers and posters.

    The most significant project completed was the production of the 2016/2017 Full Time Prospectuses (3 types). Hull College Group was looking to create a cost effective yet high quality, innovative, user-friendly, and engaging prospectus. 

    Challenge

    The college used feedback from students to develop new ideas for the prospectus. They said that they wanted a prospectus that was easy to follow and navigate. This resulted in the use of colour coded tabs for the 2015/16 prospectus (square tabs produced). This development was extremely well received.

    Feedback from a student for the 2015/16 prospectus: “I think this is the best prospectus you have sent out up to date. I love the smaller version and the directory down the side. I really believe it is a lot more user friendly and the students should be able to find what they want a lot quicker.” A local school also commented: “They look really good and are easy for students to get to grips with....the thumb index on side is also really helpful for those of us in a hurry to point things out!”

    The biggest challenge for the 2016/17 prospectus was to ensure that we continued to push the boundaries of design and print whilst keeping the price competitive.

     

     

    Solution

    We did a thorough investigation of different finishing techniques to produce a prospectus that showcased the designer’s artwork, was tactile, easy to navigate and durable enough to last for 12 months.    

    The close working relationship between Hull College Group and imageData Group resulted in the delivery of a high end publication that met all of the college’s requirements. All parts of the job went without a hitch and the prospectuses were delivered on time.

    Technical Details

    A total quantity 17,500 of prospectuses were printed.

    Size 210mm x 210mm with a 300gsm matt Cover and 130gsm matt inner.

    Finishing – soft touch lamination and spot UV to the outer cover, folded, gathered and lock bound with tabbed sections at a 120 degree angle.
